When a message has been created and it has to be sent to an address, the kind of message it is (e.g. fax, e-mail, TELEX, etc...) has to be specified. Also, the final destination for example, a fax number, has to be specified.
As for the way the message has been built up, the user has to determine if each character consists of 5, 7 or 8 bits. The more bits each character has, the higher the total number of bits the message contains, and so the higher the cost of the message. This information about the number of bits per character we have to use can be found in the user manual of the message terminal or it will be supplied by the provider of the LES you normally use. Some special characters will not be available within the 5-bit character set (the ITA-2 alphabet) e.g. the character @. For example, to send an email in 5 bits format, users should replace the special characters not available in the ITA-2 alphabet by a combination of characters that can be processed by the provider platform. E.g. valter_suban@gmail.com, should be written as: valter(u)suban(a)gmail.com.
All these items mentioned above can be created in an address book on the message terminal. These addresses can be stored (up to 100 addresses) so the next time you want to send a message to the same address, all you have to do is select it from the address book.
