All the theory about MF/HF radio and its practical operations within the course are shown on the GMDSS MF/HF simulator of SAILOR CU5100 MF/HF radio telephone with a built-in DSC system. Here is some basic information about the simulator that you need to consider.

The simulator illustrates:
- The GMDSS MF/HF radio.
- A quick dial simulation of DSC alert activation and acknowledgement on another vessel or CRS.
- GPS on/off switch. This enables us to work with or without a GPS positional input to our DSC Controller.
- Basic written information about the vessel and the MF/HF radio that is usually displayed close to the MF/HF radio.
The CU5100 MF/HF is operated by the controls:
- Display.
- Dimming button.
- Mode button -used to toggle between modes.
- Menu button - access to the menu system.
- Keyboard.
- Loudspeaker.
- DISTRESS button - protected by shield. To use, lift the shield and press for 3 seconds.
- Soft keys - the function of each key is described in its respective field in the display above each key.
- Adjust/Tune - multi-purpose rotary knob. Controls backlight, frequency and RX tune range.
- ON/OFF / VOLUME control.

- RX signal strenght or volume or TX power
