Some VHF radios support the VHF user channel. The VHF user channel is a programmable channel that can be accessed as easily as VHF CH 16 (with its dedicated button). Programming the user channel is reasonable when one specific channel is used often.

Practise on the VHF radio simulator

The user channel is accessed by pressing 16 key twice. By default the user channel is VHF CH 16 and pressing 16 key twice doesn't have any consequence. To programme the user channel you must first select the required channel and then you must press and hold down the T/W softkey (double beep).
